Henry Adams served in 1640 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, as the first Town Clerk.3,4,6 On 17 October 1643 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, Henry married Elizabeth Paine, daughter of Moses Paine and Elizabeth unknown. Their marriage date was recorded as 17 (8) 1643.1,2,3,4,9,7,5,6,8 Lt. Henry Adams and Elizabeth Paine moved in 1649 to Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.1,2,3 Lt. Henry Adams served in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, as Clerk of Writs.1,10,5 He served in 1659 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, as the Representative to the Massachusetts General Court. He served again in 16656, 1674, and 1675.1,2,3,5,6,8 He was granted land in 1659 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, comprising 148 acres.5 He was a lieutenant with the Medfield Militia Company and fought during the early part of King Phillip's War.6,8 He was killed by Indians at his door during the burning of the town on Friday, 21 February 1676 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, at age 72 years.1,2,3,10,5,6,8 From Hubbard's Indian Wars the following is written about the tragic deaths of Henry and his wife: "The Lieutenant of the town, Adams by name, was shot down by his own door, and his wife mortally wounded by a gun fired afterwards accidentally in the house." In Gooking's History of Praying Indians is the following: "The same night the Lieutenant's widow being at Mr. Wilson's the minister's house, being upon a bed in a chamber, divers soldiers and commanders being in the room underneath, Capt. Jacob having a gun in his hand half bent, with the muzzle upward, he being taking his leave to be gone to his quarters, by some accident the gun fired through, and shot floor, mat, and through and through the body of the Lieutenant's widow that lay upon the bed, and slew her also.1,2,3,7,5,6,8" Henry's estate was inventoried valued at £407 6/5d.5
