Capt. Samuel Adams was born in 1617 in Barton, St. David, Somersetshire, England.3,8,5 He was the son of Henry Adams and Edith Squire.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 On 1 January 1636 Samuel married Rebecca Graves, daughter of Thomas Graves and Katharine Gray.9,7,3,5,10 Capt. Samuel Adams lived in 1649 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.7 He served in 1653 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, as the Town Clerk.7 He moved between 1653 and 1654 to Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.5 He was granted land on 3 July 1656 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, consisting of 450 acres.5 He maintained a grist mill in the eastern part of Chelmsford, near where Lowell now exists.5 He served in 1664 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as Authorized to solemnize marriages.11 He served in 1667 as a Commissioner of the Court.5 On 7 May 1668 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Samuel married Esther Sparhawk, daughter of Deacon Nathaniel Sparhawk and Mary Angier.12,9,3,5,7 Capt.
