     Gerard I Flaminus Count of Wassenburg and Guilders was born about 1053.1 He was the son of Dietrich Flamens Count in the Velue.1 Gerard I Flaminus Count of Wassenburg and Guilders was also known as Gerald I "de Wassenberg". In 1085, he built the castle of Wassenburg between the Rhine and the Meuse.1 Gerard married Clemence of Poitou, daughter of William V Count of Poitou and Ermesinde of Longwy.1 Gerard I Flaminus Count of Wassenburg and Guilders died after 1138.1
